Alabama honored on both sides of the ball on On3 Freshman All-American team
On3 released its preseason true freshman All-American team on Monday, and Alabama Football was well-represented on the list of potential standout freshmen.
A pair of former 5-stars in wide receiver Ryan Williams and cornerback Zabien Brown both made the All-American team for the Crimson Tide.
Williams is one of the most exciting incoming freshmen in all of college football, and has shown flashes throughout fall camp after arriving in the summer. He could prove to be one of the top weapons on an electric Alabama offense and could double even as a dangerous kick returner.
Williams is pushing for a starting spot and has proved that he belongs in a group of receivers several years older than him. Two of the best freshman wide receivers in the country will reside in the Yellowhammer State, as Auburn’s Cam Coleman also made the All-American team.
On the other side of the ball, cornerback Zabien Brown was honored for the Tide. Like Williams, Brown is pushing for a starting role amongst a group of players with extensive collegiate experience. He is very technically sound and, by all accounts, does not operate like a typical freshman. Even more impressively, he has competed in Bama’s corner room with a cast on his left hand as he recovers from an injury.
Zabien Brown hasn’t let this injury affect him, and he could very well be on the field for Alabama’s first snap of the season. Many insiders believe that he will eventually seize a starting role in 2024 even if he hasn’t done so by the season opener.
Ryan Williams and Zabien Brown could both be impact players for the Tide in 2024. Additionally, they indicate that Alabama isn’t going anywhere. These two plug-and-play 5-stars look a lot like the players Nick Saban used to put on the field, and they will carry the torch into the Kalen DeBoer era over the next couple years.
