Alabama is set to take on 1-seed North Carolina in the Sweet 16 on Thursday, March 28 in Los Angeles, California. The Crimson Tide is one of two SEC teams left int he NCAA Tournament after a rough outing in the first round by the conference.

Alabama is looking to avoid the same fate they suffered last year in the NCAA Tournament where they lost to 5-seed San Diego State who went on to play in the National Championship. They lost to the Aztecs 71-64 last season.

This year they will have a tougher matchup against North Carolina who has cruised through the first two rounds of the tournament. The Crimson Tide was able to handle Charleston in the first round and Grand Canyon in the second.

The Crimson Tide will need to score like they did in the first round of the tournament where they dropped 109 points on Charleston. They will also need to have a plan for Armando Bacot in the paint. The guards of Alabama will need to be on top of their game and find lanes to drive to the basket avoiding Bacot.

These teams have faced each other just two times overall with each team taking a win. Thier last matchup was in November 2022 where the Crimson Tide won 103-101 with the game finally ending in the fourth overtime.

This will be a tough matchup, but if Bama wins, they could make it to the Elite Eight for the first time since 2004 when they were eliminated by UConn. If the Crimson Tide wins, they will face the winner of Arizona and Clemson.
