Another Alabama Football record for CFB's greatest ever program
By Ronald Evans
The word dominance frequently defines teams at the pinnacle of success. Given success can be fleeting, the word is probably used too much. Still, there are circumstances when 'dominant' is 100% spot on.
Based on a recent compilation, Alabama Football has another achievement that can only be categorized as dominant.
CFB Matchups posted the record of all current Power Five teams (the Power 4, plus Washington State and Oregon State) and each team's historical record against AP-ranked No. 1 opponents. The tweet below shows, that the Alabama Crimson Tide is the only program with a winning record against No. 1 teams. Alabama's record is 11-6 and the closest team to the Crimson Tide is Miami at 9-10.
Adding the context of winning percentage to the above compilation provides an even clearer picture of how much better the Crimson Tide has been at beating top teams than any other program.
Alabama Football's winning percentage against AP-ranked No. 1 teams is 64.7%. Miami is next at 47.4%, followed by Purdue at 38.9%, Notre Dame at 35.2%, USC at 35%, and Arizona State, BYU and Maryland at 33.3%.
