Another winning week sees the Alabama Baseball team rise in national rankings
The Alabama Baseball team continues its rise up the national rankings once again landing in the top 25 of all five major publications with a ranking as high as twelve.
The Alabama Baseball team went 4-0 last week with a win over Troy and three wins over Lipscomb. While pitching has been the team's strong suit over the past few weeks the offense was on full display scoring 48 runs across four games.
Transfer Gage Miller is off to one of the best starts of any player in the country batting .460 with eight home runs, 24 RBIs, and a 1.453 OPS. True freshman Justin Lebron continues to impress at the plate with a .367 batting average with four home runs, 13 RBIs, and four stolen bases.
The week was a rocky week for the pitching staff allowing 26 runs in the team's four games. Braylon Myers has been one of the most impressive relievers thus far with a 0.87 era over 10.1 innings pitched. Greg Farone has been a reliable starter as well with a 1.72 ERA over 15.2 innings of work with a 2-0 record on the year. Alton Davis II continues to look like one of the better closers in college baseball with a 2.16 ERA in 8.1 innings pitched with a 1-0 record with three saves.
All Eyes on SEC play for Alabama Baseball
The Alabama Baseball team played well in its biggest tests at the Frisco Classic however, the toughest games lie ahead. SEC play opens on Friday with Alabama Baseball playing host to the sixth-ranked Tennessee Volunteers who are currently 16-1 on the year. The Volunteers have one of the best teams in the nation and will be a great measuring stick for how well the Alabama Baseball team will fare in SEC play. A winning weekend against the Volunteers could see the Crimson Tide land inside the top ten this season.
