Though it has uphill battles ahead, Alabama is still pushing hard to add two more 5-stars to its 2025 class. As it currently stands, Alabama has the no. 2 class in the country and leads the nation with four 5-stars.

The Tide’s current 5-stars include quarterback Keelon Russell, offensive tackle Ty Haywood, cornerback Dijon Lee, and wide receiver Caleb Cunningham. These are obviously all critical positions at which Bama wants to stack talent, and it may have a chance to add another 5-star receiver today.

Kaliq Lockett is considered to be the third-best wide receiver in the 2025 class and a top-20 player nationally. The Texas product would pair very nicely with Cunningham (as well as Lotzeir Brooks) and would likely be a primary target of Keelon Russell down the road.

Lockett will decide between Texas, Alabama, LSU, Florida State, and Texas A&M, and will announce his decision at 12 noon (CT) on Wednesday, August 7th. He has long been considered a Texas lean, but Alabama has pushed hard and continues to make his recruitment interesting.

The Tide is still a long shot to land Lockett today, but appears to be firmly positioned at no. 2 and will continue to recruit Lockett until Signing Day.

Alabama is also working hard to land 5-star defensive lineman Justus Terry, one of the most impressive prospects in the entire cycle. Terry has been considered a Georgia lean for most of his recruitment, but announced this week that he won’t make a commitment until Signing Day.

Though the Bulldogs are the favorite, Alabama is well-positioned, as Terry has visited Tuscaloosa multiple times and is being recruited hard by coaches and players alike

Bama’s defensive line class currently includes 3-star London Simmons and JUCO product Steve Mboumoua. Granted, these are both promising developmental prospects that, in my opinion, are underrated. Both are long-term projects who have the upside to turn into impact players one day.

Still, the Tide needs at least one more body on the defensive front, and a potential instant-impact player like Justus Terry would be a massive addition at a position of need. Georgia will be tough to beat, but it’s a good sign for the Tide that Terry is going to be patient with his recruitment and wait until he’s certain.
