Big win over Georgia boosts Alabama Football to No. 1 in the AP Poll

The post-Week 5 popularity polls are out and Alabama football fans are enjoying the Crimson Tide's boost from beating Georgia. Alabama Football is the new No. 1 in the latest AP Poll. The Crimson Tide received 40 first-place votes to 19 first-place votes for Texas. The Longhorns at No. 2 received 1,525 points in the AP voting and Alabama earned 1,549 points. The Georgia Bulldogs dropped three spots to No. 5. The Tennessee Vols moved up one spot to No. 4.
Other SEC teams in the current AP Poll Top 25 are the Missouri Tigers at No. 9, Ole Miss at No. 12, LSU at No. 13, and Oklahoma at No. 19. Other SEC football teams receiving a smattering of votes were South Carolina and Kentucky.
Alabama Football holds the AP Poll No. 1 record
The new AP rankings are the 141st time the Alabama Crimson Tide has been ranked No. 1. Alabama is No. 1 among all programs for that achievement. Of the 141 times, 104 of them came during Nick Saban's Alabama Football tenure.
The Crimson Tide moved up two spots in the Coaches Poll to No. 2. With 1,339 points, Texas is No. 1. Alabama Football is on the heels of the Horns with 1,330 points.
The Georgia Bulldogs dropped from being No. 1, down to No. 5. Tennessee moved up two spots to No. 4. Also in the Top 25 from the SEC are Missouri at No. 9, Ole Miss at No. 11, LSU at No. 12, Oklahoma at No. 17, and Texas A&M at No. 21. Two other SEC football teams reached the 'Others Receiving Votes' list. The Kentucky Wildcats received 17 points, the equivalent of No. 37. South Carolina gained one voting point, the equivalent No. 44 team.
The biggest drop in the Coaches Poll was Utah. After losing to Arizona, the Utes slipped eight pots to No. 18.
