Usually, Week 3 of the college football season is too early for must-win games. That is not the case this week for a couple of SEC football teams. Outside the SEC another game is probably the biggest 'must-win' of the entire Week 3 FBS schedule.

Perspectives vary on the importance of certain games. It could be said that Auburn has a 'must-win' against New Mexico. My take is not even Hugh Freeze can screw up enough for the four-touchdown favorite Tigers to lose. Unless Hugh has been too busy recruiting to do any game planning.

Some pundits have Oklahoma on upset alert and fans of the Sooners are concerned. Wednesday's FanDuel odds have Tulane as a 13.5-point underdog going to Norman. The Sooners may not cover, but Oklahoma should get an ugly win.

There is also buzz that Boston College is a serious threat to take down Missouri. The Tigers are favored by 16.5 points at home. Taking BC and the points feels like a good bet, but I'll be shocked if Mizzou does not win by more than a touchdown.

Week 3 SEC Football Bold Upset Predictions

  • Texas A&M goes to Ben Hill Griffin Stadium for a Saturday afternoon game. To an extent, the game is a must-win for the Gators and the Aggies. But Billy Napier and Florida need a win the most. Florida's new hope, freshman quarterback DJ Lagway will benefit from the home crowd in Gainesville. Napier may use Lagway and Graham Mertz but Florida fans believe it is time to sink or swim with the freshman. Gator Country explained why Lagway should be Florida's guy, "Lagway can simply make plays that Mertz and a majority of college football quarterbacks can’t make." So far the A&M offense has not been stellar and the oddsmakers have the Aggies as just a 4.5-point favorite. I'm going with a 'backs against the wall' Florida team getting an upset win.
