The season is young and there will be movement among potential Playoff teams that cannot be predicted after Week 2. The situation will remain fluid until Selection Sunday. With the SEC currently split between seven Playoff contenders and nine Playoff also-rans, spinning a positive tale on the 2024 season is a major challenge for Texas A&M, LSU, and Auburn, whose fans had sky-high expectations. Hoping for a good bowl game so early in the season is a good definition of the limited potential for SEC football's lower tier. LSU might escape that tier this season. For the others, prospects are dim.
