Three Alabama Football Defensive Questions
- Cornerback - Domani Jackson is expected to start at one of the corner slots. Five guys could win the other starting job. Wake Forest transfer DaShawn Jones has a game experience edge but not a large one. Until Jones was added redshirt freshman, Jahlil Hurley was considered a probable starter. Jones and Hurley will have to fend off Alabama's most talented group of freshmen defensive backs in Zabien Brown, Jaylen Mbakwe, and Zay Mincey. The trio are potentially so good that even Domani Jackson can't be described as a 100% lock to start for the entire season.
- Defensive Line - Alabama could use nine guys at the defensive tackle and bandit positions. Tim Keenan III, Tim Smith, Jaheim Oatis, Jah-Marien Latham, Damon Payne, James Smith, LT Overton, Keon Keeley, and Jordan Renaud should be considered good enough to start. And not just start, but to be impact players. How they will be rotated should be more important than which ones are listed as official starters.
- Edge Rusher - The most loaded with talent position for Kane Wommack is at Wolf. Quandarrius Robinson is expected to gain the starter role. Q-Rob should have a strong season, but Keanu Koht, Qua Rissaw, and Yhonzae Pierre are too good to park on the bench. Will Wommack rotate two of the four, or three, or possibly even all four? When all four are healthy Alabama should have a fresh, and hungry Wolf on every defensive play. It is possible Wommack will be creative and use a pair of them in certain situations.
