Crimson Tide Hit Century Mark Again in Rout of Texas A&M
After a week's break the Tide started where they left off in Baton Rouge hitting the century mark for the 8th time this season in a 25-point rout of Texas A&M. Alabama is in quite impressive company as only 1995-96 Kentucky Wildcats have more during a season in SEC history. On a Saturday highlighted by new throwback uniforms and a celebration of the 2003-04 Elite Eight team, this team stole the show with another historical performance against the Aggies. The biggest challenge for this Tide team has been putting a complete game together, but they definitely answered the challenge Saturday afternoon.
Mark Sears dropped 23 on an efficient 8-14 shooting performance, making it eight straight games where he has gone over 20 points. Sears may very well be en route to bringing another SEC Player of the Year award to Tuscaloosa. Most impressively on any given Saturday, somebody new can catch the hot hand and the team is much less dependent on one player carrying the team like last season.
Four other Tide players scored in double digits highlighted by Latrell Wrightsell's continued hot streak from beyond the arc. Anytime Alabama can shoot over 40% from three-point range and get easy transition buckets they are one of the most dangerous teams in America. Texas A&M found that out firsthand as it got away from them early.
With the win Coach Oats has finally beaten Texas A&M in the regular season and most impressively Alabama has moved their SEC home winning streak to 15 straight games. The Tide will look to add to their home winning streak Wednesday night when the Florida Gators come to town. Most recently the Tide are being projected as a three seed in the NCAA Tournament and could go even higher on Selection Sunday as there are several big games on the upcoming schedule.
