Thoughts on whether the expanded playoff field takes anything away from the big game feel of an Alabama/Georgia game.

With the expanded playoff field lessening the effect of a loss for a team, does it take away from the Bama/Georgia big game feel? Of course for both fan bases that definitely won't be the case as this is a game that has been talked about since they last played in December.

However, when you look at the overall picture is something lost due to the result not having as much impact as it did in the four team playoff field? The winner of this game will most definitely jump in the rankings and be at the top of the SEC with the biggest matchup of the young conference season. The loser of Saturday night's game won't be in as tough a spot as previous seasons with a September loss.

We've seen plenty of times in the past where Alabama has rebounded from an regular season loss and either made the playoff or won a National Championship still. In the past when this has occurred every week after seemed even more stressful than normal because a second loss would undoubtedly end the dream of a championship. A first loss still hurts, but you would have to think the pressure on a coach and team isn't as high now because in this new system at some point there will be two loss teams included in the expanded playoff field.

With the more NFL feel of the regular season with the expanded playoff field it gives the casual fan more interest as their team isn't as quickly eliminated and we will see different teams than the usual suspects in the playoff field. Overall this new system brings more interest nationally to the college football season, but it will be interesting to see if it will take away from the big game feel of what we will see Saturday night in Tuscaloosa and other big regular season games on the horizon.
