Early season stats are interesting for the Crimson Tide and other SEC football teams
By Ronald Evans
Let's check out the best, and some of the worst in SEC Football stats. It is too early to get churned-up about stats, but don't say that to a Tennessee fan or a mustard bottle might come flying your way.
You can say fans of the Vols are entitled to some extreme excitement. The Vols are putting up impressive stats. And they should be. At 3-0 with two patsies and an overrated North Carolina State team, ESPN calculates Tennessee's Strength of Record (SOR) at No. 35 among FBS teams. For comparison, the Alabama Crimson Tide has a SOR of No. 16 third best in the SEC. Georgia is at No. 2 and Texas is at No. 3.
A month from now, fair conclusions can be made from stats. Until then, we get clues about what may come and have some fun touting the current success of our favorite team.
