Three Not-Bad SEC Teams, but also-rans anyway

  • No. 12 - Florida Gators - Some in the national world of college football punditry view Florida as good enough to be a top-tier team if the Gators were in the Big 12 or ACC. Even if Billy Napier's team is that good, the schedule will cancel out any serious chances for a successful season. Florida plays every scary SEC team other than the Alabama Crimson Tide. If Florida did not also play Miami and Florida State, the '24 schedule would still be brutal.
  • No. 11 - Auburn Tigers - Auburn might be better than last season due to an improved roster. But without an above-average quarterback, the Tigers may not improve much on last season's 6-7 record. Auburn should start 4-0, but there might be only two more wins on the schedule. If Auburn has a seven-win ceiling the December Early Signing Period could reverse the current success Hugh Freeze is having in recruiting.
  • No. 10 - Kentucky Wildcats - Being spanked with recruiting violations will not be the only disappointment for Kentucky football fans. Frequently, Mark Stoops does well with less talent, but 2024 may not be one of those seasons. Seven wins will be a good season for the Wildcats.
