It's another day another commitment for Kalen DeBoer and the Alabama Football team as the Crimson Tide land a commitment from Alabama legacy Mal Waldrep. Waldrep's father played for the Alabama Football team from 1998-2002 under Mike DuBose and Dennis Franchione. He chose the Alabama Football team over Clemson, Florida, and Tennessee.
On3 ranks Waldrep as the 39th ranked interior offensive lineman in the class and the 27th ranked player in the State of Alabama. For the Central Red Devils, Waldrep lines up at left tackle but, at the college level he'll likely slide to guard.
The new coaching staff did a great job recruiting Waldrep getting him on campus once for an unofficial visit, visited Waldrep at his school once, and hosted him on an official visit this weekend. The Tide didn't need to do much to land Waldrep as he's said he's been on hundreds of visits to Tuscaloosa over the years.
The Alabama Football program has done an incredible job this summer landing commitments after official visits. Through two weekends of official visits, the Crimson Tide have landed commitments from Waldrep, Keelon Russell, Chuck McDonald, and Michael Carroll. The Tide have also emerged as favorites to land four-star linebacker Dawson Merritt and 2026 receiver Cederian Morgan.
Biggest Alabama Football Recruiting weekends still lie ahead

The 2025 recruiting class needs some work at wide receiver, defensive line, running back, and defensive back and the next few weeks are crucial. The Tide have done a great job at getting themselves into contention with some of these top recruits and they'll need to do so over these next few weeks.
