Alabama Football head coach Kalen DeBoer provided injury updates after Alabama's 42-10 win over Wisconsin for senior safety Malachi Moore and redshirt freshman LB Qua Russaw.
Russaw got rolled up on by teammate DeVonta Smith in the third quarter and was helped off the field where he couldn't put any pressure on the injured leg. DeBoer called the injury a lower leg issue and that they will continue to evaluate.
The update for Moore was much more positive, though you never really know how someone is going to respond following a head injury.
DeBoer said Malachi "got hit in the head. We'll go through the protocol with him, but I'm thinking he'll be alright."
Moore was in the midst of his best game of the season when he made a stop in the redzone, but collided violently with the Wisconsin RB. Moore finished with 7 tackles, 0.5 tackles for loss, and a key forced fumble in the second quarter, stripping Badgers RB Chez Mellusi after a 21-yard gain. That play happened with Alabama leading only 7-3, and Jalen Milroe ran in a touchdown 7-plays later to give the Crimson Tide a two possession lead that they would never relinquish.
Third-string RB Richard Young also picked up an injury in the second half and will be further evaluated.
It was a relatively easy win for the Crimson Tide, but injuries to Young and two key defenders puts a bit of a damper on the win. The bye week next week comes at a perfect time and hopefully Alabama can get these guys treatment and get them ready to go for Georgia.
