Kane Wommack needs to show a little fire on the sideline

The lack of passion from the Alabama defense was shocking against Vanderbilt and it starts with the coordinator Kane Wommack.

I get the atmosphere around Alabama is a little different with Kalen Deboer in charge, but Kane Wommack has to and needs to show a little more fire on the sideline. Defensive coordinators are supposed to be a little fiery when things are going right and especially when things aren't going right.

I didn't see any of that from him in the second half against Georgia last week and saw none of that at all in Nashville. You'd think as a defensive coordinator when your team can't get off the field on third down that we'd have seen Wommack going crazy on the sideline.

He seems like a pretty calm guy and maybe coming from being a Head Coach at South Alabama is why he seems a little too reserved to be the Alabama Defensive Coordinator. When I look at past successful coordinators like Kirby Smart and Jeremy Pruit, they got after it on the sideline.

I want to see my defensive coordinator overly excited on the sideline getting in peoples' faces when needed. I have yet to see that on the season and it may benefited his defensive unit yesterday when the game was on the line.

Wommack's swarm defense has taken a lot of heat since Saturday night as Diego Pavia did what he wanted against Alabama. I am confident this team won't look this bad the rest of the year, but not getting off the field against Vanderbilt is more than worrisome.

There is a lot to figure out this week going into the home game against South Carolina, but before anything else I need to see more passion from Wommack on the sideline and the players on the field in general. Malachi Moore after the game was over shouldn't be the only time this defense looked alive all day.
