Miss Terry should be the guest picker for College Gameday at Alabama next week

There are plenty of strong options with Alabama Football ties to be the guest picker on College Gameday next week, but the obvious choice is Miss Terry Saban.

While it hasn't been officially announced just yet, it seems obvious that College Gameday will be coming to Tuscaloosa next week for Alabama Football's highly anticipated matchup with Georgia. That means the Gameday crew will be seeking out a guest picker, and that guest picker should be none other than Miss Terry.

College Gameday has come to Tuscaloosa so many times they've exhausted a lot of the good options to be the guest picker, much to the chagrin of Alabama fans. That's how we've ended up having a random celebrity with no ties to the university as the guest picker on multiple occassions.

Comedian and Tennessee native Nate Bargatze was the guest picker the last time Gameday rolled into Tuscaloosa for last season's matchup between Alabama and LSU.

This time, on the freshly named "Saban Field" at Bryant-Denny Stadium, it only makes sense to bring on set the main reason it's "Saban Field" and not "Nick Saban Field."

Miss Terry has never gotten the full credit she deserves for the role she played in the dynasty that was built in Tuscaloosa over the 17-years Nick Saban was the coach of the Crimson Tide. Most of you know the story, but if it wasn't for her, the Sabans would have never ended up in Tuscaloosa. She's the one who took the meeting with then Alabama Athletic Director Mal Moore while Nick Saban was still the head coach of the Miami Dolphins.

She's been the driving force behind the Nick's Kids Foundation and numerous other charity work in the city of Tuscaloosa. She was often utilize by Nick Saban as the secret weapon in recruiting. She has the boisterous and outgoing personality that doesn't come naturally for her husband, but she's best able to pull that side out of him.

We've seen how much she has meant to all the players who came through the program over the 17-years, most notably the bond she formed with former Crimson Tide cornerback Terrion Arnold last season.

Alabama fans are well aware of her impact, and there's been clamoring to build her a statue akin to Nick's, or find another way to honor her for all she did for the city and for the university.

There are a few other people who Alabama fans would be good with seeing as the guest picker. Really, just someone with ties to the university. It's a low bar, really. Julio Jones comes to mind. He's an Alabama legend and most Georgia fans came to like him because of his time with the Falcons. Nate Oats is another; it's a huge recruiting weekend for Tide basketball so I'm sure he would love to get some facetime on national TV.

But the other choices have had their moments in the spotlight. Miss Terry has always operated behind-the-scenes, and is just now really being recognized for everything she's done. Putting her front and center on College Gameday would be a small step toward fully recognizing it.

She would draw rave reviews from Tide fans, and seated next to her husband, the whole world would get to see why she had such an impact in Tuscaloosa. They would also get to see even more of Nick's personality and humor because Miss Terry has always brought out the best in him.
