New Alabama Crimson Tide defense and pass rushing bounty
The Alabama Crimson Tide has been known for outstanding pass rushers for so long, seeing no Bama guys on lists of 2024's best pass rushers is almost shocking.
By Ronald Evans
- Jah-Marien Latham - The Crimson Tide redshirt senior has considerable experience, having played in 31 games, but never as a starter. Spring practice observers describe Latham as a perfect fit for Wommack's Bandit role. who can both set an edge and rush the passer.
- Jordan Renaud - The redshirt freshman will push Latham and along with transfer L.T. Overton, the Bandit position may see considerable rotation during the season. At 264 lbs., Renaud, like Latham, has the size to move inside as well. In fairness to L.T. Overton, though less known to Crimson Tide fans than Renaud, Overton was the No. 2 rated defensive lineman in last year's Transfer Portal, as well as being a former 5-Star recruit.
Taking the conversation beyond pass-rushing skills, the Alabama Crimson Tide has one of its deepest defensive fronts in many seasons. Kane Wommack has never had such much athletic ability and skill to utilize. There are concerns Alabama lack experience in the secondary, but the Crimson Tide is loaded upfront.
