In a new Bracketology, Alabama Basketball is one of 11 SEC teams Big Dance-bound
By Ronald Evans
Summer Bracketology is so much fun thanks to Nate Oats. In a latest one from Jerry Palm, Alabama Basketball is a 1-seed and the No. 3 seed overall, following UConn and Kansas.
The last NCAA Tournament projection we discussed was by Joe Lunardi in mid-June. Lunardi had the Crimson Tide as a 1-seed, along with nine other SEC teams in the field; plus two more SEC teams in his First Four Out.
Jerry Palm has 11 SEC teams in the field. Palm has Alabama as the South Region 1-seed, playing in Lexington's Rupp Arena. Palm's projection has the Crimson Tide opening March Madness against the winner of Wagner vs. Southern, with a second-round game against the winner of Wake Forest vs. Kansas State.
Jerry Palm Seeding SEC Teams
- 1-seed; Alabama Crimson Tide
- 2-seed; Auburn Tigers
- 4-seeds; Texas A&M Aggies and Arkansas Razorbacks
- 5-seeds; Florida Gators, Texas Longhorns and Tennessee Vols
- 6-seed; Ole Miss Rebels
- 7-seed; Kentucky Wildcats
- 9-seed; Mississippi State Bulldogs
- 11-seed; Missouri Tigers
In Palm's projection, Alabama Basketball's path to another Final Four includes South Region teams, Baylor Bears (2-seed), Duke Blue Devils (3-seed), UCLA Bruins (4-seed), Florida Gators (5-seed) and Texas Longhorns (6-seed).
Alabama Basketball Games vs. NCAA Tournament Teams
The Crimson Tide's non-conference schedule includes games against six projected NCAA Tournament teams, plus possibly two more projected NCAA Tournament teams in the Players Era Tournament. The six are 1-seed Houston (in Las Vegas), 2-seed North Carolina (in Chapel Hill), 3-seed Purdue (in West Lafayette), 4-seed Creighton (in Tuscaloosa), 11-seed Illinois (in Birmingham) and 13-seed McNeese State (in Tuscaloosa).
In addition, Alabama Basketball will have 13 SEC games against currently projected NCAA Tournament teams. What a ride the 2024-25 season will be for Crimson Tide fans.
Due to the Pac-12's demise, the 2025 NCAA Tournament will have 37 at-large bids. In every bracketology so far, Jerry Palm and Joe Lunardi have the Crimson Tide as the automatic qualifier from the SEC.
