If the current line that slightly favors Georgia holds, Saturday night will be the first time Alabama has been a home underdog since the 2007 season. Except for placing a wager, wherever the spread goes, neither the Alabama Crimson Tide nor the Georgia Bulldogs should be considered an underdog.

Two highly talented, evenly matched teams will battle and one team will gain a win. What started building on Monday may continue and grow throughout the week, as experts pick the Crimson Tide to win.

According to ESPN Analytics, Alabama Football has been the favorite for a couple of weeks. The current projection gives Alabama a 65.6% probability of winning. A betting spread that, in the summer had been tabbed at Georgia -4.5 points, first shifted to the Bulldogs at -2.5 points. On Monday ESPN BET had the spread at Georgia -1.5 points. Before Saturday night, Alabama could easily be the favorite.

When a college football story starts to sizzle, Paul Finebaum will never be left behind. On Monday Finebaum predicted an Alabama Crimson Tide victory. Others are still processing the shock of what happened in Week 3 in Lexington. The Wildcats came off a thorough butt-kicking by South Carolina and responded with 212, non-sack rushing yards against a Georgia defensive front previously thought to be the nation's best. Alabama's rushing attack is more potent than Kentucky's.

Georgia has had plenty of time to make adjustments, including the personnel change required by the injury of offensive lineman, Tate Ratledge. What Georgia cannot remedy with a bye week is a mixture of game-changing offensive talent that's not equal to what it had with Brock Bowers and Ladd McConkey.

Alabama Crimson Tide Advantages

Georgia has an edge with a more proven overall roster. Alabama has multiple other advantages. Not knowing what to expect from new Alabama offensive and defensive schemes is a heavy burden on Georgia. Given its future road schedule, Georgia would be harmed more by a loss on Saturday than would Alabama. Although the odds may have flipped by Saturday, the Alabama Crimson Tide is relishing its current underdog status. Whatever the final spread, the Crimson Tide will play with a chip on its shoulder.

Alabama wants a statement win over Georgia. The Bulldogs carry an added burden of pressure. Beating the Crimson Tide has the beginnings of a must-win feel for the Bulldogs. Inside Bryant-Denny on Saturday night, the weight of the most pressure will be on Kirby Smart.
