4. 2016 National Championship: No. 2 Alabama 45 No. 1 Clemson 40
Alabama and Clemson were on a collision course and in the 2016 national championship game, they finally met for the first time. Clemson had an advantage at quarterback with Deshaun Watson who threw for 405 yards and ran for 73, but Alabama had just enough around Jake Coker to hang on in a fourth quarter that featured 40 points.
