No. 7 Payton Thorne or TBD (Auburn). It is difficult to believe that Auburn will not buy a better QB than Thorne. In the late Transfer Portal, how much better, is a question.

No. 6 Byrum Brown (South Florida). Brown gave Alabama trouble in Tampa last season, running and passing for 179 yards. He passed for almost 3,300 yards during his sophomore season.

No. 5 Jackson Arnold (Oklahoma). Initially, based on playing experience, it made sense to include Arnold with the bottom group of Iamaleava and Sellars. However, there has been considerable speculation from Norman that Arnold was to be the Sooners' 2024 starter and was the reason Dillon Gabriel (after passing on an NFL move) transferred to Oregon. If true, Arnold deserves this higher ranking.

No. 4 Garrett Nussmeier (LSU). Nussmeier has the difficult task of following Jayden Daniels. LSU's offense will adjust to his different skills and could prove to be quite productive. In three seasons of backup work, Nussmeier has passed for 1,720 yards. He has only thrown 78 passes but his four TD tosses to one interception indicated good decision-making.
