Will the coming week drive a shakeup in SEC Football team recruiting rankings? Auburn's Big Cat event is on Saturday and Alabama's Championship Cookout will take place on Sunday. After recently adding two 5-stars (per 247), wide receiver Derek Meadows and cornerback, DJ Pickett, LSU has zoomed up to the nation's No. 3 class (per On3).

The highest-rated prospect on Auburn's Big Cat visitor list is Alabama Crimson Tide, 5-star wide receiver commit, Caleb Cunningham. For a long while the Aubies predicted Hugh Freeze would land Cunningham. That optimism has waned considerably. Cunningham reportedly also intends to visit Ole Miss but it is clear he has no intention of flipping, "People can talk, but I know I'm locked in. I'm not going anywhere."

The Auburn recruiting situation shows some obvious disconnects. For several weeks, Auburn insiders said the Big Cat weekend would yield multiple commits from top players. Some insiders now say Hugh Freeze will not be throwing out any big bags until late in the recruiting cycle when Auburn will flip some top prospects. What must trouble the Aubies is Alabama Football, without Nick Saban, apparently still holds a recruiting discount, driven by the program's pipeline to the NFL.

SEC Football 2025 Class Team Rankings

  • Alabama Crimson Tide - 23 commits; No. 1 by On3 and No. 2 by 247. Not that 247 has Alabama with 22 commits because Steve Mboumoua has not been moved from the 2024 to the 2025 class. Mboumoua did not qualify and will spend the 2024 season at Southwest Mississippi Community College.
  • LSU Bengal Tigers - 18 commits; No. 3 by On3 and No. 4 by 247
  • Georgia Bulldogs - 21 commits; No. 4 by On3 and No. 3 by 247
  • Texas A&M Aggies - 19 commits; The Aggies are ranked No. 7 by both sites.
  • Oklahoma Sooners - 22 commits; No. 11 by On3 and No. 8 by 247
  • Tennessee Vols - 18 commits; No. 12 by On3 and No. 11 by 247
  • Texas Longhorns - 15 commits; No. 14 by On3 and No. 16 by 247
  • Missouri Tigers - 17 commits; No. 15 by On3 and No. 14 by 247
  • Kentucky Wildcats - 17 commits; No. 21 by On3 and No. 20 by 247

Using the 247 Composite, 10 SEC programs are in the top 20, 2025 classes.

  • South Carolina Gamecocks - 19 commits; No. 26 by On3 and No. 28 by 247
  • Ole Miss Rebels - 12 commits; No. 27 by On3 and No. 49 by 247. The difference between the two rating groups is odd, but the Rebels moved up in the 247 rankings from No. 57. Given Lane Kiffin's consistent Transfer Portal success, the Rebels may not need a top-25 class.
  • Arkansas Razorbacks - 16 commits; No. 37 by On3 and No. 35 by 247
  • Mississippi State Bulldogs - 17 commits; No. 47 by On3 and No. 44 by 247
  • Florida Gators - 9 commits; No. 53 by On3 and No. 68 by 247
  • Vanderbilt Commodores - 9 commits; No. 66 by On3 and No. 79 by 247

There are many miles to go to finish the 2025 class recruiting cycle. The Team Rankings can be very different in December and next Spring, but what will change least, or not at all is the dominance of SEC football programs for another year.
