The Bye Week Comes at the Perfect Time for the Tide

Coming off the huge road win against Wisconsin, the bye week comes at the perfect time for the Tide before the huge matchup next Saturday against Georgia.

Malachi Moore and and Qua Russaw are two very important pieces to this Alabama defense, and both will be needed against Georgia. It sounds like with Russaw's leg injury there is a little more uncertainty but listening to Coach Deboer talk about it things look much better than things looked after last Saturday's game.

Ideally we would like to see the team completely healthy every week, but it is even more pertinent when going up against the likes of the Bulldogs.

Outside of injures this bye week gives the coaches plenty of time to watch film and see what is working and what needs to be worked on.

On the defensive side of the ball, the biggest concern remains wide receivers getting behind the defense a few times in both the USF and Wisconsin games. Luckily for the Tide neither QB was able to take advantage of the defensive breakdown, but that won't be the case with Carson Beck as he won't miss those types of throws when given the opportunity.

The secondary has a lot of young players and the unit continues to gel, but there are certain things that will need to cleaned up or next Saturday could be a long day in Tuscaloosa.

The bye week also gives the offensive staff plenty of time to see what has worked against Georgia so far this year. The Bulldogs defense has looked stout for the majority of the first three weeks of the season, but that defense did give up chunks of yards on the ground against Kentucky.

It will be very important for Alabama to establish the run early with both Jam Miller and Justice Haynes. This will start with the offensive line controlling the line of scrimmage, but as we saw against Wisconsin when Kadyn Proctor is out there this unit is light years better.

We know how well Nick Saban's team performed coming off bye weeks, and now it is time for Kalen Deboer to set his own standard of success coming off a bye week before a huge game.
