The Tide Are Looking for Revenge Against USF Week 2
Revenge you say? Yes, you read it right the Tide will be looking for revenge against USF Saturday night in Tuscaloosa. Of course, Alabama won the game in Tampa last year, but it seemed anything but a win in the monsoon. There is a much different feel going into the game this year from Jalen Milroe being the unquestioned leader of the offense and an overall cohesiveness that wasn't there to start last season. It should be a special night with the dedication of Saban Field at Bryant-Denny Stadium, and the team should be able to use that energy to put the Bulls away much earlier this time.
I would like to see Alabama get the running game going earlier than they did Week 1 and dominate the line of scrimmage. The line was embarrassed by the South Florida pressure and that should be motivation for Saturday. Also, it would be great to see a game without a bad snap, as that is something all fans would like to see get put to bed for good. Jalen Milroe was very efficient against Western Kentucky, and was noticeably improved on his reads and checkdowns. The fact that Ryan Williams wasn't the first option on either of his TD receptions says a lot about Jalen's progression as QB1.
There is a long history of Alabama defenses struggling against a mobile QB under Saban, so this should be a good test for Kane Wommack's unit going up against Byrum Brown. The Tide defense flew around Week 1 and will need to do the same against the Bulls. If the Tide can keep the USF rushing game in check, and Brown in the pocket, it should be a good day for the new look defense. A lot of young players got plenty of clock in week 1 and should be able to get that same needed game experience this week as well. I am not sure if Alabama will cover the big 31-point line, but am confident there won't be any drama late into the fourth quarter. This should be a great tune-up game before the early road game next week in Madison.
