After going 2-1 in college football's Week 4 Bold Upset Predictions, the 'Bold' gets turned up this week with five upset predictions. On the season, the record is 3-3, with two of the misses coming from a miracle overtime finish by Colorado against Baylor and SEC officiating handing LSU a win over South Carolina.

The correct upset picks last week were Western Kentucky over Toledo and Arkansas over Auburn.

On Thursday, the range of point spread in sportsbooks has the Alabama Crimson Tide as a 1.5 to 2.5 point underdog against Georgia. I'm holding a final prediction for now, in what I see as a pick'em contest.

Two of this week's Bold upset picks are in SEC football games. Three of the four teams involved very much need to win in Week 5 to propel toward a successful season or avoid a meltdown.

  • Arkansas Razorbacks (3-1) vs. Texas A&M (3-1) in Arlington, TX - 2:30 PM CST - According to FanDuel, the Aggies are a 4-5-point favorite. Texas A&M may get quarterback Conner Weigman back, giving them a boost. Otherwise, while Weigman's backup has done well, Arkansas will have the quarterback advantage with Taylen Green. Green has been impressive as a runner, averaging over five yards per carry. His passing accuracy has been awful in the Hogs' last two wins, but he remains a true dual-threat. Texas A&M has one of the SEC's poorest rushing defenses, and Bobby Petrino knows how to get the most out of the Arkansas offense. The Bold Upset pick is the Hogs move to 4-1.
