  • North Carolina Tar Heels (3-1) at Duke Blue Devils (4-0) - 3:00 PM CST - The Blue Devils are a 2.5-point favorite and even with the small spread, most predictions have Manny Diaz leading Duke to its first 5-0 start on what seems like forever (actually since 1994). The first question is how can a team that gave up 70 points to James Madison recover in one week. Maybe the Heels can't, but the Blue Devils have zero impressive wins. UNC has an impressive enough offense to win some shootouts and the North Carolina defense will be looking to redeem itself. The Bold Upset pick is UNC knocking Duke from college football's unbeaten.
  • Florida State Seminoles (1-3) at SMU Mustangs (3-1) - 7:00 PM CST - SMU is a 6-5-point favorite, and most college football pickers expect the Mustangs to cover. There is no debate that SMU is the better team at this point. The Seminoles finally gained a win last week, in an unimpressive performance, beating Cal 14-9. There is no sound football logic that suggests FSU will beat SMU. A wild guess is the Noles' staff and key players have not given up. Every contest being viewed as a chance for redemption can make them an unpredictably dangerous team. My Boldest Upset pick of the season is FSU finds a way to win on Saturday.
