There are changes this week in the SEC Power Rankings, and close to half of the SEC football teams have a new ranking position.

The rankings are a snapshot after Week Zero and Week One play. The rankings do not predict how the teams will finish the season.

  • No. 16 - South Carolina Gamecocks (1-0) - Previous Ranking No. 13. South Carolina escaped against ODU, 23-19. The Monarchs gave the win away with two fumbles that gave South Carolina scoring drives that were a combined nine yards. ODU had four turnovers in the game to one for the Gamecocks. After the game, Shane Beamer described the team's performance and his coaching as unacceptable. Next up for South Carolina is Kentucky in Lexington.
  • No. 15 - Mississippi State Bulldogs (1-0) - Previous Ranking No. 15. The Bulldogs beat Eastern Kentucky 56-7. Next up for MSU is away to Arizona State.
  • No. 14 Arkansas Razorbacks (1-0) - Previous Ranking No. 14. The Razorbacks beat Arkansas Pine-Bluff 70-0. Next for Arkansas is away to Oklahoma State.
  • No. 13 Vanderbilt Commodores (1-0) - Previous Ranking No. 16. The Commodores got a huge overtime win over the Virginia Tech Hokie, 34-27. Vandy not only had to overcome the Hokies; the Dores had to recover from a missed short, field goal that would have won the game as time expired. Virginia Tech was perhaps overrated as a dark horse ACC team, but that takes nothing away from Vanderbilt's big win. Next, Vandy will host Alcorn State in Nashville.
  • No. 12 Florida Gators (0-1) - Previous Ranking No. 12. The Gators barely hold on to the No. 12 spot, after the 44-17 loss to Miami. Florida has a crazy tough schedule, but I'm not sure they will face a better quarterback than the Hurricanes Cam Ward. There's panic among Florida fans but the Gators have a month to bounce back.
  • No. 11 Kentucky Wildcats (1-0) - Previous Ranking No. No. 10. Bumping the Wildcats down might be unfair. Kentucky beat Southern Miss 31-0 in a game shortened by weather to less than three full quarters. Next up for the Wildcats is South Carolina in Lexington.
