What I'm Looking for from Alabama Football on the road in Madison
Alabama going to Big 10 country for a non-conference game should be the most interesting part of Saturday afternoon's game, as I am looking for the Tide to turn this into an ugly game. This feels like a get right game for the road team after their struggles last week against a tough USF team in Tuscaloosa. This starts with the offensive line controlling the line of scrimmage, allowing the running game to get going earlly and often as well as Jalen Milroe having time to throw the ball. I am looking for the offensive line to have their best game of the young season, even if Kadyn Proctor doesn't play. It would be ideal if Proctor doesn't have to play against the Badgers and can get two more weeks to get healthy before the Georgia game.
I am looking for the Tide to have a game without multiple turnovers. Things were very sloppy against USF, and a multiple turnover game in a hostile environment is a recipe for disaster. Alabama has to eliminate the fumbles, and Jalen has to make sure he isn't forcing the ball to Ryan Williams when he is clearly covered. There are too many other dangerous weapons on the field to force things, and as long as Milroe has time to scan the field, someone will be open on nearly every passing play. I am looking more targets for both Kendrick Law and CJ Dippre on Saturday.
On the defensive side of the ball I am looking for this unit to make it a long day for Tyler Van Dyke. This defense should be able to tee off on Tyler, and it becomes easier to do so with him not being a mobile QB. I thought the defense did a great job getting off the field on third down last week, but I am looking for them to control the line of scrimmage more consistently than they did a week ago. Being able to shut down the running game and making it where the Badgers find themselves in third and long most of the game will be the difference in this game. The effort and energy of the defense has been very noticeable through the first two weeks of the season, and I am looking for more of the same from this defense even on the road.
