Gazing far into the admittedly murky future, I am predicting three in the Top 25 will be ranked lower in the 2025 preseason rankings. I'm also predicting five in the Top 25 will be ranked higher next year.

College Football 2025 Rising Stars

  • Steve Sarkisian - Texas Longhorns - Sark has a real chance to get the Longhorns to the National Championship Game. At No. 5, there are just four coaches above him, but two will drop leaving him room to move up next year.
  • Kalen DeBoer - Alabama Crimson Tide - Alabama football fans will love this, as the prediction is the two coaches ranked above Sarkisian this year will fall far enough, that DeBoer will move up again in the 2025 rankings.
  • Dan Lanning - Oregon Ducks - At No. 9 now Lanning does not have much room to move, but thanks to his coaching acumen and deep coffers to spend on the Ducks roster, Lanning should edge upward in next year's Top 10.
  • Lane Kiffin - Ole Miss Rebels - Ole Miss has the roster and the schedule to make the CFB Playoffs. If Kiffin gets them that far, he'll jump past James Franklin, Lincoln Riley, and Mike Norvell in next year's rankings.
  • Eli Drinkwitz - Missouri Tigers - The Tigers are primed for another strong season, after going 11-2 last season, with a Cotton Bowl win over Ohio State. The Tigers may fall just short of the Playoffs, but Drinkwitz will be ranked higher than No. 21 next year.
