The Alabama Football team got middle of the road production out of their running backs in the 2023-24 season, and the big play ability was never really there. The longest runs of the season were by Ty Simpson and Jalen Milroe, with Roydell Williams finishing third with a 48-yard run. The duo of Williams and Jase McClellan didn't provide much of a threat in the receiving game, combining for 195 yards on 18 catches.

Entering the 2024-25 season, the running back room will be filled with high-upside backs with big play ability. Justice Haynes will be one of the mainstays in the running back rotation with our best glimpse coming in the Rose Bowl where Haynes was explosive and looked like the team's best back. Jam Miller will be the other mainstay after serving as the team's third back and showing serious promise as a receiving back in 2023.

The team got just 126.6 yards per game out of it's running backs, a drop off from the 2022-23 team's 149.6 yards per game. At times in 2023, the team was far too reliant on Jalen Milroe to make plays, and the team's inability to run the ball caused issues down the stretch of the season.

Justice Haynes and Jam Miller showing the ability to make explosive plays in the rushing game would raise the ceiling of the offense mightily for next season. The team will enter the season with an unproven receiving corps and early tests against Wisconsin and Georgia. Until the receivers get their feet wet, the team may need massive contributions from the running game. With a strong interior offensive line, the team may be much improved on the ground.
