Will the 2025 NFL Draft be the end of Alabama Football's 1st round pick streak?

Alabama Football has a long streak of first round picks, but the 2025 NFL Draft could be the end of that impressive streak with no locks through the first three weeks of the college football season.

Alabama Football has had 1st round picks in every draft over the last 16-years, a streak that began back in 2009. But that streak appears to be in serious jeopardy for the 2025 NFL Draft as there isn't a consensus among draft experts of a Crimson Tide player being picked that early.

Depending on where you look, there's typically two guys who are garnering first round buzz and that's junior guard Tyler Booker and junior quarterback Jalen Milroe. Booker is the consensus top offensive guard prospect, but at a position that has been devalued there's no guarantee he hears his name called on opening night.

There was only one interior offensive lineman taken in the first round last year when the Tampa Bay Buccaneers took Duke center Graham Barton with the 26th pick. The next interior lineman came off the board with pick 44.

Milroe figures to be one of the most polarizing prospects in the draft, and he's long been one of the most polarizing players among Alabama fans. Milroe is a freaky athlete, and he seems to be coming along as a passer under the guidance of new head coach Kalen DeBoer. If that continues, and Alabama is in the thick of the national title race, it would not be a surprise to see a team take a shot at the high upside of the Tide's signal caller.

Linebackers Deontae Lawson and Jihaad Campbell are likely to be among the highest ranked guys at their position, but the first linebacker didn't come off the board last season until the 45th pick.

Keon Sabb and Malachi Moore would have a similar issue with no safety being picked until No. 47 in 2024. Parker Brailsford would have the same issue as Booker.

LT Overton is an intriguing prospect, and the Texas A&M transfer had his best performance to date in Alabama's 42-10 win over Wisconsin in Madison last weekend. Tim Keenan has looked like one of the most dominant defensive tackles in the country in the first few weeks and is climbing up draft boards as we speak.

The last time Alabama didn't have a first round pick was in 2008, a draft they had zero players selected. That followed Nick Saban's first season in Tuscaloosa and was a microcosm of the rebuilding job Saban had in front him in Tuscaloosa when he arrived.

There hasn't been a draft since 2016 where the Crimson Tide didn't have multiple first round picks, and it was the last time the streak felt in serious jeopardy. Center Ryan Kelly was taken by the Colts with the No. 18 pick that year. The good news in comparing these two seasons is that draft directly followed an Alabama National Championship.

We're still seven months away from the 2025 draft, so there's a safe bet that a consensus first rounder or two out of Alabama will emerge and extend the impressive streak.
