Alabama LB Jihaad Campbell came to the NFL Combine in Indianapolis projected by many to be a first round pick. On Thursday during on-field workouts and drills, Campbell likely solidified his standing.
Campbell was listed as one of the big winners in the LB group on Thursday by The Draft Network.
He ran the third-fastest 40-time among LBs at 4.52 and was second in broad jump at 10-foot-7. In the on-field drills, he showed his fluidity, change-of-direction, and positional versatility as he looked like a natural during pass rushing drills.

Social media was ablaze with praise for Campbell, particularly among draftniks.
idk if broadcast showed it but @AlabamaFTBL LB Jihaad Campbell did more pass rush drills after the rest of the LBs were done for the day.

This is what it looked like in real speed. Safe to say he's got the goods. pic.twitter.com/GUd26E9hqw
One of the more intriguing aspects of Campbell's game is his ability to play multiple positions. He was a natural edge rusher when he got to Alabama, but moved to inside linebacker with the talent Alabama had on the edge already. Campbell just wanted to play football. As is, you can use him in a variety of rolls as an on-ball or off-ball 'backer and a situational edge rusher. He has drawn comparisons to Micah Parsons and Edgerrin Cooper.

Matt Miller is one of the most respected draft guys out there. He's right, too. Campbell is a perfect modern linebacker.
Really smooth from Alabama LB Jihaad Campbell. pic.twitter.com/mn9I1WeW3V

Smooth as silk!
the thing with jihaad campbell too is i really believe he can take another few steps w/ this off-ball diagnosing.
— Kyron Samuels (@kyronsamuels) February 28, 2025
he’s exceptional downhill & w/ his range, but if the snap-to-snap ID can improve and he doesn’t have to react as much…you’re getting some truly special.
Kyron Samuels is a former Jacksonville State offensive lineman and has an eye for talent. He's a great follow on twitter if you don't already. He hits the nail on the head with Campbell here, too. He's just now scratching the surface of what he can become. He just turned 21 and is still raw as a prospect. But he's a smart, instinctive player with all the physical tools you can hope for.
Jihaad Campbell's NFL draft stock is trending up
Campbell was already considered a likely first round pick in April's draft. He likely solidified his standing in the first round - and possibly even Top 20 - with his performance in Indianapolis.
Campbell had a dominant junior season at Alabama and didn't get the praise or recognition he deserved from the national media. He'll have to settle for all the zeroes that will be on his first NFL paycheck. Bummer.
Campbell led Alabama with 119 total tackles and five sacks. He could have opted out of the bowl game but decided to play against Michigan and was in the midst of a dominant game before leaving due to an injury. He had already racked up 11 tackles in just over a half of play.
The NFL Draft gets started with the first round on Thursday, April 24th. Campbell shouldn't have a long wait before his name is called.
