Coming into this season, Alabama fans would not have been surprised to see a WR generate Heisman Trophy buzz. They just would have expected it to be star sophomore Ryan Williams. Instead, it's senior Germie Bernard, who has been the biggest weapon for the Tide's offense through 2.5 games.

Alabama took a 21-0 lead into halftime against Wisconsin in large part due to a terrific performance from Bernard. He scored a pivotal early touchdown on a two-yard run on a 4th-and-1 from the two with the game knotted at zero. Alabama had already failed to convert a 4th down earlier on their first drive, and with his back against the wall, OC Ryan Grubb knew where he wanted to go with the football:

Later in the first half, Ty Simpson delivered a rope to Bernard across the middle that went for a 43-yard touchdown:

Alabama's passing attack is locked in against Wisconsin

Ty Simpson is making throws with anticipation, and with a fully healthy WR corps, Alabama's passing attack looks absolutely lethal.

Simpson is 13-14 passing, which makes him 30 of his last 31 through the air after a perfect 17-of-17 game last week against UL Monroe. Simpson has spread the wealth, completing those 13 passes to six different receivers. Ryan Williams and Isaiah Horton have three catches each, with Williams leading the team with 49 yards. Horton has 31 and a touchdown, and Bernard has two receptions for 48 yards and a touchdown.

Alabama will still need to find more of an offensive balance by running the football effectively, but Simpson is looking more and more comfortable with each passing game. He's developed a rapport with multiple receivers, none more so than Bernard.

Bernard came into the game with 11 catches for 213 yards and two touchdowns. He's adding to those numbers today and has already reached the endzone four times through three games.

There's plenty to clean up, but Alabama looks like a completely different team two weeks removed from the season-opening loss to Florida State.
