Against all the football programs the Alabama Crimson Tide has played five or more games against, only five of them have winning records over Alabama. The worst record for Alabama is 2-8-1 against the Texas Longhorns. Next worst is the Crimson Tide's 2-5-1 record against the Oklahoma Sooners.

The other three major blemishes in Alabama Football's history are: Notre Dame (3-5), TCU (2-3), and Michigan (3-4). Interestingly, so much hate from Alabama fans aimed at the Fighting Irish comes from only eight games. Of course, Notre Dame cost the Crimson Tide two national championships.

The Crimson Tide has one win over the Sooners since the 1962 season. Alabama and the Sooners met in the 1963 Orange Bowl, with the Tide winning 17-0. President John F Kennedy was in the stands for the game. His presence created some controversy. "Kennedy attended the game and sat in the stands in those pre-suite days. There are conflicting reports over whether JFK visited both team locker rooms. Some reports were the President rebuked the all-white Alabama football team by only visiting the Sooners' locker room. "

Alabama played Oklahoma in the 1970 Astro-Bluebonnet Bowl. The game ended in a 24-24 tie. Alabama had a chance to win at the end with a 34-yard field goal. Crimson Tide kicker Richard Ciemny "missed it badly, hooking it wide left and short."

In the 2002 and 2003 regular season games, Oklahoma beat Alabama twice, by scores of 37-27 and 20-13. In 2014, Alabama pretty much sleepwalked through a 45-31 loss to the Sooners in the Sugar Bowl.

2018 was not a lasting Alabama Crimson Tide Redemption

Some redemption came to the Tide in a 2018 CFB Playoff, Orange Bowl Semi-final. Early in the second quarter, Alabama led the game, 28-0. It was over at that point. After the game, a sulky Lincoln Riley said, "They completely outplayed us early and then we completely outplayed them pretty much the rest of the way." The final score was Alabama 45 - Oklahoma 34.

The two games since are burned into the minds of Alabama Crimson Tide fans. A three game losing streak against the Sooners would be a totally unacceptable result.
