One of the best parts of being an Alabama fan is being able to watch any NFL game and reliably knowing that you're going to get to see a former Tide great making plays. No college has more players in the league right now than the Crimson Tide, a byproduct of the ridiculous run of success enjoyed by Nick Saban during his 17 years as the Alabama head coach.

Last year, we highlighted the best players each week. This year, we're going to do something a little bit different - something we don't believe anyone else is doing. We're going to highlight the plays, from some of the top highlights, to some of the more underrated moments of the week.

You'll see big-time catches, ridiculous runs, key sacks, interceptions, and even some trench warfare.

Here are the best moments and plays from Week 2:

The best plays of the week from former Alabama football stars

Jahmyr Gibbs' unbelievable juke move against Chicago

One day, someone will need to study what Jahmyr Gibbs' ligaments are made out of. If I attempted any of the moves he does on any given Sunday, my ACLs would explode. Somehow, Gibbs' just expand as far as he needs them to.

In the midst of a blowout win for the Lions over the Bears, Gibbs broke a big run in the 4th quarter. In the open field, he did what he does so often: make a defender look absolutely silly:

Goodness gracious.

Cam Latu makes one of the best blocks you'll ever see

Sunday was the NFL debut for former Alabama TE Cam Latu, who took a long road to get there. Latu was a 3rd round pick by the San Francisco 49ers in the 2023 draft. He suffered a season-ending injury during his first preseason and was subsequently waived a year later. He spent last season on the practice squad for the Cleveland Browns.

He was activated for the Eagles on Sunday in a Super Bowl rematch against the Chiefs. He got in for a redzone snap, came in motion, and absolutely blasted a Chiefs defensive lineman, driving him back into the endzone:

Latu is looking to catch on in the league. Perhaps he was always destined to play fullback? If he's going to hit people like that, he'll find a role and stick around a while.

The Jalen Hurts to DeVonta Smith connection sinks the Chiefs...again

A Jalen Hurts to DeVonta Smith touchdown in the Super Bowl was the final nail in the Kansas City coffin seven months ago. On Sunday, Hurts connected on a pass to Smith to set up the touchdown that gave Philly a two-possession lead, effectively sealing the deal again.

Facing a blitz and immediate pressure, Hurts knew he could rely on Smitty. He knew it would be a one-on-one play, and he gave Smith a chance on a jump ball against one of the best corners in the league:

They just don't make receivers more reliable than Smith.

Robbie Ouzts serves up a double order of pancakes

Not one, but TWO vicious blocks make the list this week. Latu's block was impressive, but Ouzts, the rookie fullback for the Seahawks, cleared the way with a block that took out two players at the same time:

He laid the lumber on a Steelers defender so well that he knocked him into another player, completely clearing the lane for Seattle RB Kenneth Walker. Ouzts was one of Alabama's unsung heroes the last couple of seasons with his ability as a blocker. It's always nice to see him get his flowers.

Bryce Young uncorks a laser

Bryce Young did everything he could to lead the Panthers to an epic comeback against the Cardinals. Trailing 27-3 in the second half, Young led Carolina to 19 consecutive points, and after a successful onside kick, had the ball with a chance to win the game. Unfortunately, the whole offense was too gassed to finish the job, but Young put the team on his back.

He made some eye-opening throws, perhaps none more so than a short touchdown pass to Hunter Renfrow. The ball just explodes out of his hands, and he zips it through the tighest of windows:

The Panthers are 0-2, but the offense figured something out in that 2nd half. That was a confident throw by Young, and a performance he and his teammates can build off of.
