The Washington Commanders stunned the Detroit Lions in the NFC Divisional Round playoff matchup with a (final score) win at Ford Field. The Lions were the NFC's top team at 15-2 in the regular season, but with a limited defense due to injuries, Jayden Daniels and the Commanders picked them apart.

Daniels being the QB will get the press and deservedly so, but this game was dominated by former Alabama football players.

Both the Lions and Commanders are well represented by former Tide players, rostering more than most teams in the league. DL Jonathan Allen and Da'Ron Payne are Washington mainstays. Brian Robinson Jr. has been their lead running back the last couple of seasons.

Detroit has been Alabama-happy in recent drafts as they've rebuilt into one of the best teams in the NFL. They've used first round picks on Jameson Williams, Jahymr Gibbs, and Terrion Arnold. They got a steal in the 2nd round a couple of years ago with Brian Branch.

There were nine touchdowns scored in the Lions/Commanders game. Five of them were scored by former Alabama players.

Gibbs and Robinson had two apiece, while Williams added the other. Gibbs was his usual electric self, turning 1920 touches into 176 yards and a couple of scores.

Gibbs teamed up with Williams on Jamo's touchdown. Gibbs took the hand-off to the right and then pitched it to Williams on an end-around and Jamo took it 61 yards for a touchdown.

Brian Robinson ran hard for Washington and picked up 77 yards on 15 carries and punched in a pair of short touchdown runs.

It wasn't a pretty night defensively for the Lions, but Branch was flying all over the field and picked up 11 tackles and two tackles-for-loss. Branch was one of the best safeties in the NFL for most of the season but was forced to switch back to slot corner like he played as a rookie due to the plethora of injuries to Detroit defensive backs.

Alabama's standing as NFLU is alive and well.
