There is something clearly wrong with Jalen Milroe

My biggest concern coming out of the loss to Tennesse is that there is clearly something wrong with Jalen Milroe. I am not sure if he is hurt or if it is a mental thing, but he has appeared off the last two games. He seems very tentative with everything he is doing, isn't using his mobility to his advantage, and his receiver progressions have been very underwhelming.

The simple answer would be both South Carolina and Tennessee have elite defensive fronts, but the reason for his recent decline in play seems more complex than this. He has had back-to-back multiple interception games, and his confidence appears to be at an all-time low.

One of the biggest questions is why Milroe targets Ryan Williams so many times a game. There were so many forced attempts yesterday, and I think it has to do with his lack of confidence in himself. He does not seem to be enjoying himself during games like he was last year and to start this season. He seems almost lost out there with reading defenses even more so than last year and that is troubling considering how much he had improved from last year going into this year.

Clearly playing quarterback at the University of Alabama can be very stressful, but this is a young man who has faced adversity very well until now.

Hopefully whatever the problem is with Jalen it is addressed and fixed because this team can only be as successful as him. His confidence and smile need to be restored on the sideline because this is when this Alabama team is the best.

He is one of the vocal leaders on this Alabama team and I know others look for him to be the rock when things aren't going well. I didn't see that yesterday when he was on the sideline, but that is more important than any scheme adjustments going into the Missouri game and the rest of the season. I am looking for the Jalen Milroe that I've had confidence in since he became the starter last year to return,
