There's no point for former players to pile on after an Alabama loss
After listening to AJ McCarron's thoughts on Jalen Milroe, fair or not, I wonder what is the point of piling under after an Alabama loss? Jalen Milroe's performances of the last two weeks have been disappointing but if Alabama had found a way to beat Tennessee these things wouldn't have been said. I
'm sure AJ's opinions on Jalen's mechanics and field vision would still be the same in a win last week, but it wouldn't have been the main point of his interview yesterday. I'm sure we would have heard more about this team getting a gritty win on the road no matter how it happened.
Of course in today's media world hot takes are what sells and nothing sells like a former Alabama QB being critical about the current one. Obviously all Alabama fans and former players are disappointed by how this season is looking, but there are better ways for former players to give their criticisms.
The easy part is to go on the radio and blast the current QB and talk about everything he isn't doing right. I think it's a much better look to reach out to Milroe and give him words of encouragement or advice going forward.
This same week we've seen other former players like Reggie Ragland and Marquis Maze come out and give full support to Coach Deboer. I think everything isn't for the public to see from both current and former players but when things are said it looks much better for positive messages being shared.
There are already plenty of media members, fans, etc breaking down and giving reason why things haven't looked great to this point in Tuscaloosa and I say leave it to them. I doubt AJ would have been thrilled to have heard of QBs before him going in on him in 2011, so to have the same courtesy is all I'm asking.
