This eye-opening Bryce Young stat against the Cowboys won't surprise Alabama fans

Bryce Young did it again.

As is almost always the case when the Carolina Panthers win a game, the former Alabama Heisman Trophy-winning QB had to lead a game-winning drive. In his nine career wins as the Panthers' starting QB, Young has led eight game-winning scoring drives. The lone exception was this season's 30-0 blowout win over the Atlanta Falcons.

On Sunday against Dallas, Young and Cowboys QB Dak Prescott went back-and-forth in arguably the game of the day in the NFL, much like last week against Tua Tagovailoa and the Miami Dolphins. And just like last week against the Dolphins, Young came up clutch down the stretch to lead the Panthers to the win.

It's just what he does.

Young shook off an early interception - one that bounced off the hands of his intended WR - to throw for 199 yards and three touchdowns. He was at his best when the Panthers were playing from behind, his cool, calm demeanor showing up in big moments just like he did throughout his two-year run as Alabama's starting QB.

Bryce Young is at his most comfortable with his back against the wall

It's like a switch flips for Young when his back is against the wall. He's led game-winning drives in back-to-back weeks, rescuing the Panthers from the brink of defeat, and just like that, Carolina is 3-3 and very much alive in the NFC playoff hunt.

Perhaps his most impressive performance of the season actually came in defeat. He brought the Panthers back from down 27-3 in Week 2, throwing for 328 yards and three touchdowns and bringing Carolina within five. The Panthers came up short, but it was the latest example of Young refusing to give up when facing long odds.

Putting the team on his back in clutch moments is nothing new for Alabama fans with Young. One of the lasting memories during his time as the Crimson Tide's starting QB was the miraculous touchdown drive to tie the game against Auburn in the 2021 Iron Bowl. Trailing 10-3 and backed up at their own three-yard line with under two minutes to play, Young engineered a 97-yard touchdown drive, capped off by a touchdown pass to Ja'Corey Brooks, to send the game into overtime. Alabama ultimately prevailed 24-22 in four overtimes.

He led a game-winning drive the next season to lift Alabama to a 20-19 win in Austin over Texas.

Young is just clutch. His ability to stay even-keeled during the most tense moments is his greatest strength. That was on full display in Sunday's win over Dallas.
