This Jalen Hurts quote is further proof he was Built By Bama and Nick Saban

Jalen Hurts dropped a quote on the first day of Eagles Training Camp on Wednesday that shows the same mentality Nick Saban instilled in his Alabama players.

Nick Saban was always famous during his coaching days for his "24-hour rule." Whether a win or loss, you move on after 24 hours. That didn't change depending on the magnitude of the game, either. Saban won six National Championships during his time in Tuscaloosa, and after each one, he had moved on the day after hoisting the crystal football in order to focus on the next season.

It wasn't always easy to instill that mentality into his players. Some got it, others didn't. Several Saban teams battled complacency as much as they battled the opponent. But one player who always got it was Jalen Hurts.

As badly as opposing fans want to erase Hurts from Alabama history because he transferred to play his senior season at Oklahoma, it's impossible to deny where he developed the mental aspect of his game, which is what separates him from others.

I mean, come on. Does that not sound exactly like Nick Saban? The Eagles were recently presented their Super Bowl rings at a ceremony. Former Tide WR DeVonta Smith had an awesome reaction to seeing it for the first time.

I didn't see video of Hurts receiving his. I can only imagine he accepted it with annoyance splattered across his face, the same enthusiasm one might have when being presented with a traffic ticket. Having to attend a ring ceremony over five months after winning the Super Bowl took time Hurts believes could be better spent preparing for the new season.

At some point, Hurts will undoubtedly be asked about "defending" the Super Bowl title, and he'll have a response similar to the one Saban always had. He's not defending anything. That was last year's team. This is a new team, and this team hasn't won anything yet.

Jalen Hurts still has a whole lot of Alabama in him

It's fair to play up how much Hurts developed as a passer while playing for Lincoln Riley at Oklahoma, but people tend to forget the strides he made as a passer during his junior season at Alabama, working with then-QB coach Dan Enos.

But what is inarguable is that the mental aspect of Hurts' game was developed in Tuscaloosa. He's the player who embodies the Saban mentality more than any other former Saban player.

It's the mental side of Hurts' game that has brought him where he is. He's not the most talented QB in the league, but he wants to win more than anyone else. He's driven to succeed more than anyone else. You won't outwork him. He doesn't care about the stats. He just wants to win football games. And he wins a lot of them, leading the Eagles to two NFC Championships and a Super Bowl victory over the last three seasons.

Hurts won't let the Eagles fall victim to complacency this season if he can help it. And because of that, whether it's this year or down the road, Hurts will probably have to endure another ring ceremony.
