One week from today, fall camp opens for Alabama football. All eyes in camp will be on the QB competition between Ty Simpson, Austin Mack, and Keelon Russell. Simpson has the lead coming in, but the other two will push him over the month between the start of camp and the season opener in Tallahassee against Florida State.

Simpson has said and done all the right things this offseason. He's put the work in. He's pushed himself. He has waited his turn and is ready to be the guy to lead the Crimson Tide for the 2025 season as Alabama looks to bounce back from a disappointing year in 2024.

In a video posted to Instagram by QB Reps, Simpson shared a message to Alabama fans. Warning: his words may make you want to run through a brick wall.

“When I get on the field, Alabama fans should know that I’m going to do everything it takes to win,” Simpson said. “I’m going to make sure that I’m the toughest guy on the field. I’m going to make sure that I win. I’m going to make sure that I know everything that’s coming. I’m going to get the guys around me the ball.”

Simpson's vow to Alabama fans will get you fired up

Simpson vows to be a gamer. His mentality sounds similar to former Alabama QB Jake Coker, who was the starter for the 2015 team that won the National Championship. Coker wasn't the flashiest player, and didn't put up gaudy statistics, but he frequently did everything it took to win games. He was consistently the toughest player on the field and had no problem tucking the ball, running, and lowering his shoulder to pick up an extra yard or two.

Simpson has more raw talent than Coker, but how he performs when the lights are bright remains to be seen. But he has approached things the right way. He hasn't taken anything for granted, which has been a theme of the entire team. They have taken on that mentality - Simpson is living it, giving further evidence that he will almost certainly be the starting QB this season.

Simpson added another line that will make Alabama fans excited, too. It has been obvious for a while now how close this team is. They have a camaraderie that's rare. They are completely bought into Kalen DeBoer and the coaching staff, and they're ready to show he world that Alabama is still Alabama.

“One thing about our team this year, I feel like we’re just so close,” Simpson said. “Nobody feels like they’re bigger than the team. Nobody feels like it’s all about them. And if somebody doesn’t do their job, then it’s all on us.”

Is it football season yet?
