Top 5 performances by Alabama football in the NFL Week 10
Derrick Henry punched in a touchdown on Thursday night to extend Alabama football's NFL touchdown streak to 94 consecutive weeks, but this week wasn't about the King. The usual cast of former Crimson Tide stars like Henry, Jahmyr Gibbs, Najee Harris, and Tua Tagovailoa didn't make the list this week.
It was an unsung group of former Alabama stars who led the way in the NFL this week, with due respect to Henry (16 carries, 68 yards, TD) and Gibbs (19 carries, 71 yards).
So who stole the show this week in Week 10 of the NFL season?
Top 5 Alabama NFL Performers
5. Calvin Ridley
The Titans lost again, but Calvin Ridley had a big day. He caught five passes for 84 yards and hauled in a pair of touchdowns in the loss to the Chargers.
After a slow start to the season, Ridley now has three straight games with 70+ receiving yards.
4. Anfernee Jennings
Anfernee Jennings makes the list for the first time this season after a strong performance to help a dominant Patriots defense in a 19-3 win over the Chicago Bears.
This is Jennings' fourth season in the league, and Sunday against the Bears was his best game as a pro. He finished with four tackles and sacked Caleb Williams twice.
3. Jalen Hurts
Jalen Hurts keeps playing high-level football. The Eagles QB has led Philadelphia to a fourth straight win and the top of the NFC East. On Sunday, Philly dominated the division-rival Cowboys 34-6.
In the process, Hurts completed 14/20 passes for 202 yards and two touchdowns. He added 56 rushing yards and two more touchdowns.
The Eagles have a quick turnaround this week with a Thursday night matchup against the Commanders in a game with first place in the NFC East on the line.
2. Brian Branch
It's not a totally new group of players this week because Brian Branch continues to look like the best safety in the NFL. In a thrilling game on Sunday Night Football, Branch helped the Lions to a come-from-behind win over the Texans.
Branch finished with 10 tackles, a TFL, a QBH, and 2 passes defended.
Branch falling to #45 in the draft because he ran a 4.58 40 is one of the all-time draft blunders. This kid is a football player through and through and anyone who watched him at Alabama could have seen it.
In just his second year as a pro, Branch is garnering serious Defensive Player of the Year consideration.
1. John Metchie
John Metchie didn't have an eye-popping statistical output in the Texans' loss to the Lions on Sunday night, but he did score his first career touchdown, a milestone that carries a lot more weight for him than others after everything he's been through.
Metchie missed his entire rookie season in 2022 following a Leukemia diagnosis. He had to fight back through a crowded depth chart in Houston to arrive at this moment.
Here's hoping Metchie can parlay this performance into a big rest of the year for the Texans.
