Things have been quiet on the recruiting front recently for Kalen DeBoer and Alabama football, but that's just because the Crimson Tide had an outstanding summer and got most of the work out of the way.
Alabama currently sits with the No. 5-ranked class in the 247 composite rankings with 21 total commitments. The Tide's average recruit rating outpaces the four teams ahead of them, but they are behind simply because of numbers. In terms of quality, there's not a better group of prospects in the country than the ones who reside in Alabama's class.
Alabama's class is led by five 5-star commitments. Two of those five stars are defensive backs, who will share a meeting room with DB coach Maurice Linguist when they arrive in Tuscaloosa in January. CB Jorden Edmonds and S Jireh Edwards have become fast friends. That friendship has been built on a shared mindset, one that led both of them to play college football at the Capstone:
“I feel like our mindset is compatible. We know what we are going down there for—we know the goal, and the goal is to win a natty.”

Jireh Edwards and Jorden Edmonds will join a loaded secondary in Tuscaloosa
The talent that Alabama has stacked in the secondary for the future is insane. The cupboards will be stocked for Wommack and Linguist for this year and many years to come. Alabama has a loaded secondary for the 2025 season, and perhaps unbelievably, this might be the least talented the Tide's secondary will be for the next few years.
Obviously, the Transfer Portal can be the great equalizer, but Alabama landed an elite crop of defensive backs in the 2025 cycle with 5-star Dijon Lee, and 4-stars Chuck McDonald and Ivan Taylor. In the 2026 cycle, along with Edwards and Edmonds, Alabama has 4-star CB Zyan Gibson and 3-star safety Rihyael Kelley.
That's not to mention talented players like Zabien Brown, Utah transfer Cam Calhoun, Zay Mincey, and Dre Kirkpatrick Jr., all of whom should be back in Tuscaloosa next season.
It's also special that DeBoer's first two classes as the Alabama head coach all seem to have the same mentality as the guys Nick Saban always recruited. They are hell-bent and driven by the same goal: to win a National Championship at Alabama. That's the standard in Tuscaloosa, and that mentality hasn't gone anywhere despite a new coaching staff.
