As Ty Simpson gets ready for some life-changing news, he hasn't forgotten about what playing for Alabama and Kalen DeBoer meant to him this past season. It had him thinking about maybe, just maybe returning to college for one more season instead of chasing his NFL Draft dreams.

With that said, had Simpson delayed his pro career, he would have returned to Tuscaloosa and nowhere else. He made that more than clear once again while speaking at a pre-draft event held by Toyota. When asked by FanSided's Josh Yourish on whether or not it was a difficult decision to not transfer/focus on the draft instead, Simpson's response was quite telling.

"Yeah, I don't think it was difficult at all for me to be honest," Simpson said. "It was more difficult the fact of, you know, what I should do if I want to leave Alabama or not. That means so much to me, like the state, the community, the university - Coach DeBoer and all my teammates. It always came down to if I'm ready or not. I felt like I was ready. Me being a senior and a guy who was ready to take the next step."

Ty Simpson's love for Alabama isn't going anywhere after leaving Tuscaloosa

If you're a die-hard Bama fan, you've got to love seeing that quote from Simpson. This offseason, there was major buzz that the veteran QB might have entered the transfer portal and suited up for a different squad. Reports came in too that Miami was ready to offer him a deal worth north of $6 million.

Mario Cristobal was working overtime to replace Carson Beck, who was also brought in for one season after he left Georgia. Cristobal swung and missed with Simpson, leading to the Canes going after Darian Mensah and getting things over the line there.

As for Simpson, his loyalty to Alabama really can't be measured. He waited for his chance to become the team's new starter and his patience paid off. He had a brilliant 2025 season, highlighted of course by getting the Crimson Tide back to the College Football Playoff where they belonged.

Now with the draft here, Simpson is ready to hear his name called and he'll do so as an Alabama fan-favorite. Sure, he could have jumped ship and played for a different team on a sweet NIL deal, but that truly was never in the cards for him. Nope, his blood is crimson and that won't change.

Note: As mentioned above, Simpson spoke with the media at a pre-draft event hosted by Toyota. Toyota, the official Automotive Partner of the NFL, is also working to shine the spotlight on the future of the game. This included hosting the 2026 Toyota NFL Draft Flag Football Training Camp for local high school girls flag football players in the Pittsburgh area.
