Eleven seasons are enough to designate an interval as a College Football Era. In the current one, Alabama Football leads the way with three National Championships in the CFP Era. Using a breakdown provided by CFB Kings, every program's noteworthy accomplishments, going back to the 2014 season, are listed below.
The standards for being included are: Conference Championships, New Year's Six Bowl wins, a CFP appearance, winning a CFB Playoff game, and winning a National Championship. In the graphic below, each program is listed by its "Best Postseason Accomplishment."
Alabama Football the CFP Era King
Alabama Football can rightfully claim to be the King of the era, based on winning three National Championships. Georgia, Clemson, and Ohio State have won two each.
Best Postseason Accomplishment for SEC Football Programs
- Alabama Football - National Championships in 2015, 2017, and 2020. The Alabama Crimson Tide also leads in the most CFP games and wins, most semi-final games and wins, and most National Championship Game appearances.
- Georgia Bulldogs - National Championships in 2021 and 2022
- LSU Bengal Tigers - National Championship in 2019
- Texas Longhorns - Won two 2024-25 CFB Playoff games against the Clemson Tigers and the Arizona State Sun Devils
- Oklahoma Sooners - The Sooners played in four CFP games as members of the Big 12. Oklahoma lost all four games, giving the Sooners the worst Playoff record of any program.
- Tennessee Vols - Competed in a Playoff game. The Vols lost in the First Round of the 2024-25 CFB Playoffs to the Ohio State Buckeyes, 42-17.
- Florida Gators - Florida won two New Year's Six bowl games. The Gators beat Michigan in the 2018 Peach Bowl and won over Virginia in the 2019 Orange Bowl.
- Ole Miss Rebels - The Rebels have two NY6 wins. Ole Miss beat Oklahoma State in the 2026 Sugar Bowl and beat Penn State in the 2023 Peach Bowl.
- Texas A&M Aggies - The Aggies beat North Carolina in the 2021 Orange Bowl.
- Missouri Tigers - The Tigers beat the Ohio State Buckeyes in the 2023 Cotton Bowl.
The six SEC football programs with zero noteworthy postseason wins in the CFP Era are Mississippi State, Arkansas, Vanderbilt, Kentucky, South Carolina, and Auburn. For the six, their best postseason highlights are inconsequential bowl game wins.
