The goal for the Alabama football team is very simple yet complicated, and that is to keep the same energy that was present against UL Monroe this week against Wisconsin. There can not be any letdown despite it being an 11 AM start time against a team that much isn't expected from this season. This has to be a game that the Tide dominates on both sides of the ball, and by halftime, there has to be no mystery about who will win the game.
This is a game that should give plenty of opportunity for everyone to see the field as well as continue improving in the areas that have the most questions. We need to see Ryan Williams regain his confidence that he had through the first month of the 2024 season, as well as Ty Simpson building on his perfect performance against the Warhawks. There are still questions about the offensive line and the running game, and another solid performance this time against a Big Ten team can continue to put the fanbase at ease.
Most importantly will be to take Wisconsin's confidence away early. Forcing them into a couple of quick three-and-outs and turning the defensive stops into points will be key to the Tide comfortably getting their second win of the season. Luke Fickell is a good coach, and despite there being a sizeable difference in talent on paper, nothing can be taken for granted.
Right now, nobody is intimidated by Alabama, so that has to be regained by dominating on the field again. Of course, it is not likely we will see Alabama win by 70 on Saturday, but there is no reason the margin of victory shouldn't be close to or over 20 points.
The expectation from the coaching staff and players should be to leave nothing in the chamber before having a bye week next Saturday. It will be important to see a minimum number of mental mistakes and dumb penalties. Honestly, I would be disappointed if we see any turnovers on Saturday, and the goal should be to end every offensive drive with a kick, preferably PATs. This should further cool any heat on the team, and confidence should continue to build amongst the players and the fanbase heading into the showdown in Athens.
