Well, the time might be coming for Alabama football to have to make some tough decisions. If Week 1 in the 2025 season was any sort of notion about how the rest of the season is going to go, fans may want to look away now because it isn't going good.

Alabama dug itself a deep hole in the first half of its matchup against Florida State as the Crimson Tide were down as much as 24-7, and the offense just simply struggled to get anything going. It should be said that this is the same Florida State team that only won two games last season. Granted, it is not the exact team from last season as Florida State got some upgrades in the transfer portal, but still.

So, of course, fans are wondering how much it is going to take to get DeBoer out of the football facility early and they should know that it is not going to be cheap.

What is Kalen DeBoer's buyout at Alabama?

Kalen DeBoer signed an eight-year deal with the Crimson Tide worth $87 million, making him one of the highest-paid head coaches in college football. To be fair, Alabama was bringing in a coach who had just led Washington to the National Championship.

There are many incentives in his contract, and the amount he earns each year increases, which means the buyout is not going to be cheap. If DeBoer is fired without cause, he is owed 90% of his remaining contract, which would be paid monthly, so right now that would be roughly $69 million.

If DeBoer decided to leave Alabama for his own reasons, right now he would be owed $4 million, in 2026 he would be owed $3 million, and anytime after that, the Crimson Tide would not owe him anything.

Alabama has not had to pay a coaching buyout in a long time when it comes to football, with Nick Saban at Alabama for years and then choosing to retire.
