Alabama going 'one and done' in the SEC Tournament was disappointing. Some Alabama basketball fans bluntly call the result embarrassing. Either way, Alabama now moves to the next stage of the season with another, bigger tournament opportunity.
Learning Alabama's specific Big Dance selection must wait until Sunday afternoon. Alabama's chance for a 3-seed is gone. There is little reason to think Alabama will be lower than a 4-seed. After the Crimson Tide lost to Ole Miss in Nashville, ESPN's Joe Lunardi moved Alabama from a 3-seed to a 4-seed. In Lunardi's projected bracket, Alabama is the top 4-seed team.
CBS Sports also moved the Crimson Tide to a 4-seed. The Bracket Matrix Saturday update will be added to this post when it is published.
Alabama Basketball Big Dance Bracketology Projections
- CBS has Alabama in the Midwest Region, with a First Round contest against Hofstra. With a win Alabama would play the Texas Tech vs. Northern Iowa winner in the Second Round.
- Bart Torvik's T-Ranketology has Alabama as a 4-seed. Torvik's model gives the Crimson Tide an 86.1% probability of winning in the Big Dance First Round, and a 47.7% probability of advancing to a Sweet 16 game. The probability drops to 17.5% for Alabama to advance to an Elite Eight game.
- Another bracketology source that has scored well in past rankings by the Bracket Matrix is Delphi Bracketology. Delphi has the Crimson Tide as a West Region 4-seed, opening with North Dakota State in San Diego. Alabama's Second Round matchup would be the winner of Wisconsin vs. Akron.
- Hoops HD also has Alabama playing in the West Region, with an opening game against Utah Valley. The Tide's projected Second Round contest would be against the winner of the Texas Tech vs. McNeese State game.
