If the NCAA Tournament began this week, Alabama Basketball would be a 2-seed. Based on projections from the two, most well-known Bracketologists, opponents and sites are detailed below. The projections are provided by Joe Lunardi and Jerry Palm.

By Thursday projections will have changed. They will change again by Saturday. Except for surprise bid-stealers, Sunday conference championship games will have little or no impact on the final Selection Sunday bracket.

Alabama Basketball as projected by Jerry Palm

  • Alabama as a 2-seed in the East Region with a first-round game in Lexington against 15-seed Towson. After a 4-8 start to the season, Towson is 22-10.
  • After dispensing with Towson, Alabama would face the winner of 7-seed BYU vs. 10-seed Arkansas. BYU is 23-8 and working on an eight-game winning streak. the Hogs are 19-12 and have four of their last five games, including victories over Vandy and Mississippi State.
  • Following chalk, Alabama Basketball would get a Sweet 16 opponent of either Mississippi State or St. John's. The Bulldogs are 20-11, including two losses to Alabama Basketball. State has lost four of its last five games. The Red Storm are 27-4 under Rick Pitino, having won 16 of their last 17 games.
  • Without a major upset, Alabama's Elite Eight matchup would be East Region, 1-seed Duke. The Blue Devils are 28-3 and have lost one game since Nov. 26.

Alabama Crimson Tide in NCAA Tournament as projected by Joe Lunardi

  • Alabama as a 2-seed in the Midwest Region would open with 15-seed Robert Morris. Robert Morris is 24-8 and has lost only one game since Jan. 8. The site is also Rupp Arena in Lexington.
  • Next for the Alabama Crimson Tide would be the winner of 7-seed Kansas and 10-seed Arkansas. The Jayhawks have been up and down all season posting a 20-11 mark. Most recently, after losses to Texas Tech at home and Houston on the road, Kansas knocked off Arizona in Lawrence, 83-76.
  • The most dangerous Sweet 16 threats to the Crimson Tide would be 3-seed St. John's and 6-seed Saint Mary's. The Gaels are 27-4 and have lost just one game since Dec. 22.
  • In the Midwest, Alabama's final hurdle to another Final Four would likely be 1-seed Houston. The Cougars are 27-4. Alabama beat Houston on Nov. 26 in Las Vegas. They have lost one game since Nov. 30; to Texas Tech at home, by one point in overtime.
